Question: Why do most shoes for women have a heel that is raised?
My girlfriend and I were looking for shoes one day that she could wear to work and were having a hard time finding ones without heels because they aren’t good for her back. Couldn’t find anything suitable! I can’t believe women wear these uncomfortable things.

The pictures have nothing to do with the content!!

they aren’t all uncomfortable
over 5 inch heels are awkward
4 and under can be really comfortable and makes you taller and look thinner

Smaller girls tend to like heels because they give the extra height, however high heels can also strengthen leg muscles!
Kitten heels are a good alternative for your girlfriend if she does want a heel (see link) theyre small so do not overbalance you and doesn’t harm your back, plus they still make the clicky high heel sound that girls love to sound important =)

It is supposed to make the calves look sexier. You know what they say..pain is beauty. She should be able to find some nice flats, though. Good luck!

most shoes for women have a raised heel because they can make the woman look taller and slimmer. some people find them uncomfortable but many are very comfortable to walk in, look for one that has a 1 inch heel or a wedge or something.

They are only uncomfortable if they are poorly made. A good pair of shoes shouldn’t hurt no matter how high the heel.
Raised heels – this used to mean a higher social status. The higher your shoe, the higher your social rank. Now it elongates the leg and forces women to stand/walk taller, giving them better posture instantly.

Higher heels certainly enhances the height, the look of the calves and the buttocks.
They may look uncomfortable but women swear by the comfort of the designer high heel shoes…go figure.

I never wear heels any more, but I’m answering to point out the odd fact that men (particularly a short French king) were responsible for the invention of high heels. Also, while I’m on about it, men were the first ones to wear make up as we know it (Egyptians wore stuff around the eyes to prevent glare when hunting, primitive sun glasses) And another French king was responsible for making women give birth lying down fashionable, because he wanted to really see his mistress give birth to his child)
Well done guys!

High heels are made to make women’s legs look shapelier. As for the BS about how they help your feet or legs it’s just hype. High heels actually do a fair amount of damage to feet, legs and backs. That would be why doctors of podiatry (foot doctors) and orthopedic surgeons don’t like them. They can also shorten the achilles tendon and high heels force women to walk with a gait that is not natural. If women limit the height and time spent in high heels it helps keep damage down. Flat heeled shoes that look good and comfortable are hard to find. Many more choices can be found online. Having said that I think heels are sexy as hell on women and I with I could wear them but I have bad feet.
