Question: Where can I find sandals/shoes that will fit over a prosthetic foot?
I have a prosthetic leg, and am finding it difficult to find shoes that will fit on the foot. I even got the foot a size smaller than my other foot hoping it would help my shoes fit better, but with no luck. I have wide tennis shoes, but want to get back to wearing sandals.

I am sorry you lost your leg. I have a condition called ‘plantar fasciitis’.
I have also developed neuropathy. I wear Propet sandals you can purchase at Footsmart.com. They are not glamourous but they have a complete heel back for stablility, they are adjustable at the ankle and around the foot. They come in a few colours. Just look for the ones with the solid heel back.

My feet have always been slightly off. My natural foot is very wide and most female prosthetic feet are narrow. I would stuff shoes with tissues or foam to make them fit if I had to. For dress shoes I would have the shoe I wore on my prosthetic side altered if there was a drastic difference. The place I go usually costs – to have it fixed. My Ossur elation is pretty good for fitting. I also use those pads you buy for the heel for your shoes to keep your foot from slipping. I place those under the ball of my prosthetic foot and it would prevent the shoe from slipping. For flip flops or backless sandals I use a clear bra strap to keep it in place. I also stitch in elastics to slip on shoes that easily fall off.
You may need to invest in a good shoe horn to help put shoes on.

Check out this site for Wide and Narrow shoes…If you don’t see anything on there…..Click on any of the vendors they have a ton of wide and extra wide shoes and sandals. I would just give it a try!?!? Hope you find something that works for you.
