July 23rd 2005, a Saturday. The second day of the camping trip is always the most fun because there’s no unpacking/packing late/early, it’s all relax, have fun, take it in.
On our way back from the waterfall (uploading next) we came upon this large rock you could jump off of, and we spent the next half hour doing that. Everyone jumped except my father – who got as far as assuming a stance and closing his eyes.
Because the Barron River is partly in a deep canyon, where this was, even I didn’t have to worry about seaweed, and felt good jumping into that water. I just had my sandals on as a precaution. They must have taken so much yet they lasted four years.

This was taken on the northeast corner of Broadway and 96th Street. It’s not as busy as the west side of Broadway, but occasionally one finds some interesting images…

While I still have many parts of New York City left to explore, I realized the other day that I don’t always have to go looking elsewhere for interesting photographs; some of it is available just outside my front door.
I live on a street corner on the Upper West Side of Manhattan where there’s an express stop on the IRT subway line, a crosstown bus stop, an entrance to the West Side Highway, and the usual range of banks, grocery stores, fast-food shops, mobile-phone stores, and other commercial enterprises. As a result, there are lots of interesting people moving past my apartment building, all day and all night long.
It’s easy to find an unobtrusive spot on the edge of the median strip separating the east side of Broadway from the west side; nobody pays any attention to me as they cross the street from east to west, and nobody even looks in my direction as they cross from north to south (or vice versa).
So, these are some of the people I thought were photo-worthy during the past few days; I’ll add more to the collection as the summer progresses … unless, of course, other parts of New York City turn out to be more compelling from time to time.

my dress is turquoise and i would love to wear heels but i know i am not going to dance in them so do you really think its worth it to buy 100 dollar heels?

omg my dress was the same color! it was very long and i looked like a princess! I didnt buy heels, because i was just gonna take them off anyways. so i bought a pair of white flats. and no one knew. so definatly dont buy heels. its a waist. unless you plan on returning them but then you have to keeps the tags and make sure they dont get damaged. so i would just go with flats. =)

No, sandals are fine. Whatever shoes you show up in, you’ll end up kicking them off and dancing barefoot anyway. Everyone always does.
