Join us December 29th, 2011 for an afternoon of neighborhood service at the Alameda County Food Bank!
We will be sorting, bagging, and boxing make and/or other foods in the Alameda County Meals Financial institution warehouse this is a fantastic way to help battle hunger and promote nutrition above the holidays.
The facility is really great and spacious we will be offered a short presentation on security and guidelines and then we will get to work! The last group I volunteered with bagged above 16,000 pounds of create during the same time span we will have, let's see if we can't boost on that quantity!

Thank you for your commitment to volunteering at the Alameda County Community Meals Financial institution. The Food Financial institution serves one in six individuals in Alameda County – your present of time helps make a remarkable distinction to the many of us in our neighborhood facing hunger throughout the holidays and year-round.
Your group is confirmed for 12:30-3:30 pm on Thursday, December 29, at 7900 Edgewater Drive in Oakland. (As you are heading toward the airport on Hegenberger Rd., turn proper at the Wal-Mart onto Edgewater Dr. Further parking is obtainable along the fence at 8000 Edgewater Drive.) Please enter our new Community Engagement Center close to the rear of our facility beneath the orangeawning.
Please note the following:
You will be sorting and boxing/bagging meals in our warehouse.
Please wear at ease nevertheless durable clothing layers are suggested.
PLEASE Wear CLOSED-TOED Shoes – sandals and flip-flops are not permitted.
Please arrive promptly.
Please leave all bags and individual products at home or locked in the trunks of your cars.
Also, please do not bring headphones, MP3 players or other private stereos.
All volunteers need to be at least ten many years of age. At least a single adult volunteer should be present for every single 5 youth (ages 10-16.)
Lastly, the Food Financial institution is experiencing a shortage of donated meals and we must purchase most of what is distributed. In addition to your generous gift of time, we encourage your group to contemplate supporting the following:
- From November 1 to December 31, volunteers can double the impact of any economic contribution! Via "Together We Can: a Volunteer Matching Challenge," all donations created by volunteers will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a generous companion to assist the many of us in our neighborhood facing hunger.
