Question: How do you keep the smell from flip flops or sandals that you regularly wear?
I wear flip flops and sandals daily more-less, and they never seem to last more than 2 weeks before a wretched smell lingers around them. Can you wash them, spray them, or should you just regularly toss them?

Wash them
They are harboring sweat and bacteria. Soak them in saltwater overnight. Then rinse with clean water and you should be just fine. Sea salt works best – you can get it anywhere they sell aquarium supplies.

I’d love to know the answer to that cause my sandals and flip flops smell and I don’t have smelly feet?!?!?!
Answer by simplyenigmatic25
I wash many of my sandals – but if they are suede or leather you need to get a special cleaner or be very careful to just wash the insole. If the sandal is a material you can always febreeze it and that should take care of the smell.

ew ur feet smell!!!! jk lol um idk mine dont stink try a wet washcloth or something
You can tank a fabric sheet and put them in the shoes overnight and it usually keeps a good smell for a while. Make sure you turn the sandle over to keep the sheet close to it.
Dr. Scholl’s makes a foot anti-perspirant and I believe something you can spray your shoes with. I don’t know if your sandals are cloth, plastic or leather or what, so don’t take the suggestions to just toss them in the washer at face value. It depends on what they’re made of.
Check your local drug stores or Wal-Mart in the personal care aisle, and look around for the Dr. Scholl products. You should find something there.
its hard to do, but wear socks with them, or wash your feet everytime before ya put them on
to avoid this smell try rubbing baking soda or talcum powder on the sandal n flip flops when u not wearing them. the odour will definitely go
I clean my flip flops in a mixture of bleach and water. For extra clean flops, I scrub them with a tooth brush after letting them sit in the water for a while. Works well for me.
II put them in a pillow case and wash them in my washing machine
thank you
WASH AND DRY YOUR FEET B4 YOU WEAR THEM PUT TALCUM POWDER ON THEM ALSO TO KEEP THEM DRY…… OR USE A LITTLE DEODORANT ON THEM TO KEEP THEM FROM GETTING SWEATY……. WASH YOUR FLIP FLOPS WITH MILD SOAP TO KILL THE BACTERIA WHICH CAUSES BAD SMELLS!!
Wash them, and then inbetween washings, keep them sprinkled liberally with baking soda in a paper bag. It works!
Soak them overnight in a basin full of water mixed with a lot of
dettol. Dettol is a liquid disinfectant. Not sure if you can get it everywhere though. I’m in Canada and they have it in the drugstores and places like wallmart. Anyway it’s the only thing that works for me. I’ve tried the spray, washing them with regular detergent etc… and it doesn’t do anything.
