Question: Does anyone know if the hike up Diamond Head Oahu is doable with sandals or are walking shoes needed?
I am going to Oahu next week and I wasn’t sure if I need to pack some good tennis shoes. Or will I survive wearing sandals.

Wear a comfortable pair of athletic shoes. My teenage daughter wore a
Pair of sandals and the strap broke half way up…tennis shoes are more comfortable, reliable and safe. Aloha a hui ho!

I’ve done Diamond Head twice, and both times were in thong sandals. But I live in Colorado, so I can hike in my sleep. So it all depends. If you get around regularly in sandals and it doesn’t bother you, you’ll be fine. If your feet are a bit more sensitive, you might want the shoes. Plus, you don’t want to ruin the rest of the trip with messed up feet!
