Question: Could I wear elegant sandals for a formal reception in winter?
I will be going to USA for a formal wedding before new year. I have a beautiful dress that looks better with high hills sandals. I don’t know if ladies wear sandals during winter for formal parties or should I look for some elegant close shoes?
In case I can wear my sandals, should I wear them with bare legs or should I wear stockings?

wear the sandals and no stockings. you may be cold, bring an extra pair of shoes to change into after the party.

Don’t be trashy and wear stockings and pumps. Everybody watches Hollywood where it is summer all the time and run around with bare legs and their feet in sandals to show off their 0.00 pedicure, but that is not the real world. when you watch the law stories and Washington DC stories on TV all the actors wear stockings, because that’s what happens in the real world. Bare legs and bare feet have no business at formal affairs.

Wear closed-toe pumps and definitely wear stockings. A lady should always wear stockings, especially for a formal event.

Wear sheer stockings and closed pumps. Both are in classic good taste. Sandals and bare legs are very, very tacky at formal affair, especially in winter months. If you wear sandals, wear sheer sandalfoot stockings. bare legs at formal affairs is really tacky.

    I do like the way you have presented this particular matter plus it really does offer us a lot of fodder for consideration. On the other hand, from what I have personally seen, I simply wish when other commentary pile on that people keep on issue and in no way start on a tirade regarding the news du jour. Anyway, thank you for this exceptional point and while I do not agree with it in totality, I regard your perspective.
