The heels on a pair of women’s shoes have radii of 0.50 cm at the bottom. If 30% of the weight of a woman weighing 480N is supported by each heel, find the stress of on each heal.
Could someone please help me. Please show how you got the answer that you have gotten? thank you

The pictures have nothing to do with the content!!

stress = force / area
Force = 480N * 30% = 144 N (for each heel)
Area is circular with radius of 0.50cm. So find the area of the circle, but first convert into meters to keep answer in SI units:
Radius = 0.50 cm (1m/100cm) = 0.005m
Area = Pi*R^2= 3.1415*0.005^2 = 7.854e-5 m^2
Stress = 144 N / 7.854e-5 m^2 = 1,833,464 Pascals = 1.8 MPa (rounded off to 2 significant figures)
In other units, this is about 18 times atmospheric pressure, or the pressure you’d feel if you went 600 feet under water.
